Opportunity to work in a dynamic early childhood educational setting with opportunity to be a part of developing new programming at new child care centre. Desired candidate would ideally have ECE diploma and/or Montessori training.

Tundra Buddies Day Care (TBDC) is seeking an Executive Director who will provide guidance and leadership for the day to day operations and programming of the daycare center. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation and management of TBDC. The Executive Director works with the Board and the Daycare teaching staff to ensure the long-term viability and sustainability of the TBDC Society.



  • A college diploma in Early Childhood Education or Post-Secondary education in relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years successful senior leadership experience in a field related to child care; experience in a not-for-profit organization an asset.
  • Current Child Care First Aid Certification

Experience and Knowledge

  • Significant supervisory experience (will lead a team of up to 12 staff)
  • Strong working knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Acts, and preferably of the Nunavut Child Care Act and its regulations

Abilities and Skills

  • Ability to communicate with diplomacy and interact constructively with all levels of stakeholders and employees
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English required, Inuktitut and/or French an asset)
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate leadership, teamwork and management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-energy environment
  • Ability to anticipate, assess and readily adapt to changes in circumstances and priorities
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check must be submitted to the Board of Directors prior to starting the position

This is a permanent position based in Iqaluit, Nunavut. We offer a competitive salary starting at $80,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package including a Northern Living Allowance and subsidized staff housing to discuss. Relocation subsidies also available. Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
