Established in 1999, Petite Maison Montessori was the first accredited casa program in East York offering languages for children 18 months to 6 years of age. PMM has been providing quality early learning and an alternative kindergarten program for over 20 years!. We have 3 beautifully furnished and spacious classrooms with outdoor playground facilities and a license capacity of 58.

We are now in search of a Montessori trained toddler teacher and/or RECE to welcome the children in September 2019. This candidate will be working in a beautiful and spacious classroom alongside a Registered Early Childhood Educator with a smaller limit of 10 children in the classroom.

The Mildenhall School is looking for a qualified elementary classroom assistant starting September 2019. This is a great opportunity for a newly trained elementary teacher to gain valuable experience in a Montessori classroom.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Supporting the lead teacher to deliver high-fidelity Montessori education 

Establishing a child-centred classroom that encourages children to be independent and to respect themselves and others 

Fostering a feeling of joy and discovery 

Ensuring a safe and caring environment for students and their parents 

Having effective communication skills, and actively and positively interacting with parents in both formal and informal settings 

The ideal candidate has:

AMI or MACTE approved Montessori Elementary or Casa training or experience in a Montessori environment.

Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative environment

Respect for children and a friendly demeanour

Current Standard First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain 

Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within past 6 months 

Hours for this position are 8:30am-4:30pm.

Our current principal/supervisor has been at the helm for over 20 years and is looking to step down from this role come September 2019. PMM is in search of an experienced child care professional to fill the full-time permanent role of Principal/Supervisor. This candidate will be responsible for the general operations of the school/daycare, ensuring compliance with all municipal, provincial and federal regulations and reports to the owner/operator. The principal/ supervisor will ensure that the school’s policies and procedures are updated and followed at all times. Being in an established setting, the expectation is to maintain the high standards and administrative high caliber that the school has been accustomed to. This candidate is expected to create and maintain a professional atmosphere of learning, safety and mutual respect and mentoring of all staff.

The position of Principal/Supervisor is supported by a part-time administrative staff who is MACTE accredited and Trained in the Montessori Method of Education (ECE equivalency) with over 10 years experience. This administrative staff supports the principal/supervisor in the afternoons by maintaining the children’s files, accounts receivable, managing attendance records and family accounts in addition to a number of other administrative duties. The operator/owner will continue to work offsite and will be part of the administrative team.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
● Must have proof of current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators;
● Minimum 5 years’ senior management level experience in a child care centre / Montessori school;
● Certificate in WHMIS and Health and Safety training;
● Valid Food Handler Certification within 2 years of expiry (or willing to certify prior to employment);
● Demonstrated in depth knowledge of:
o Toronto Children’s Services
o CCEYA (current and new legislation) and CCLS
o Expert level knowledge and experience to facilitate and support the implementation of How Does Learning Happen? foundations, goals and expectations
o Occupational Health and Safety Act,
o Current Canada Food Guide requirements,
o Toronto Public Health guidelines, requirements and legislation,
o Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resource management best practices,

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

● Proven leadership and change management skills;
● Demonstrates skills in strategic thinking and planning;
● Previous experience in managing a diverse team.

● Ability to work outside of centre’s operational hours (i.e. special events, professional development, attending meetings/workshops, on-call work, etc

PRIMARY DUTIES:
● Oversee the day to day operations of the school and oversee all staff.
● Program Development: Develop, promote and implement Daycare’s philosophical approach and implementation of mission statement and CCMA code of Ethics.
● Ensure that children’s files are maintained in accordance with all regulatory and legislative requirements.
● Human Resources: Recruit, train, mentor and evaluate staff; develop and enforce personnel policies and procedures; develop and maintain personnel files and annual employment contracts and agreements; promote, oversee and ensure ongoing staff training and professional development opportunities are accessible and utilized.
● Community & Advocacy: Participate in community committee work to advocate, support and enhance quality early learning in the child care and throughout Toronto.
