Humbervale Montessori School is a CCMA Accredited school dedicated to providing a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for our students.   We are seeking a full-time Casa teacher for September 2017.

POSITION:  Casa Directress – September 2017

Candidates must have experience and be energetic, engaging and have a passion for teaching.  We are interested in teachers who want to be part of a dynamic team community and who can contribute both in the classroom and in the school as a whole.

Requirements:

  • Accredited Montessori teacher with an AMI or MACTE approved Montessori diploma
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • At least 2 years teaching experience
  • Fluency in French language is an asset
  • Current criminal reference check, vulnerable sector screening
  • Current first aid and infant and children CPR certificate
  • Updated immunization record

Position:  Supervisor/Administrator

Responsibilities:

Student Life:
1. Fostering a nurturing learning environment for our children, while adhering to the school's Mission Statement.
2. Faculty and Staff - crafting and administering programs, processes and standards to direct our team in professional development and performance goals. Candidate must have an aptitude for creating a warm and benevolent team culture.
3. Communication - the ability to effectively and positively present information on the Montessori philosophy and curriculum, as well as school-related information, and respond to questions from groups of parents,  and the general public.
4. Fundraising - cultivating and soliciting support, through planning of efforts and events.
5. Institutional Image - developing branding, representing the School and educating the public on its mission and programs.
6. Organization - fostering smooth internal operations and nurturing the Staff.
7. Planning and Analysis - conducting and implementing strategic planning.

Education, Experience, and Skills:
- A bachelor's degree or Equivalent and or ECE.
- American Montessori Society or Association Montessori International teacher certification and or MACTE – or equivalent; plus one to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience of supervision and administration.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- An aptitude for creating a warm and benevolent team culture
- Strong administrative, training, communication and organizational skills; creative and imaginative, proactive approach to challenges; ability to make sound decisions and withstand pressure
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with groups and individuals
- Ability to be proactive in marketing, public relations and fund-raising
- Ability to effectively and positively present information on the Montessori philosophy and curriculum, as well as school-related information, and respond to questions from groups of parents and the general public.

  • Accounting Software (Quick Books)
  • Computer Skills – Proficient in Microsoft Office 10 (word, excel, outlook)
  • Valid CPR and Standard First Aid Certification
  • Sound knowledge of the Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum, The Kindergarten Program, (Revised)

Job Duties:

  • Review all program plans weekly, over see staff to ensure that program supplies and materials needed are available.
  • Oversee program implementation provide regular feedback to staff including annual performance reviews and behaviour management.
  • Reviews programs for compliance of Health and Safety (Ministry of Labour), Provincial Licensing (Ministry of Education), Public Health, and Toronto District School Board requirements and standards and all other governing bodies.
  • Assesses classrooms and organization of equipment and recommends or makes necessary changes.
  • Review and ensure all accident/incident reports and documentation is accurate and completed with the required detail in a professional manner (objective, neat, correct spelling/grammar etc.)
  • Arrange of staffing coverage on an as needed basis (staff call ins and last minute scheduling) managing attendance and punctuality of all staff and placement students and maintains supply staff list.  Ensures staff schedules are reflective of the needs of the centre meeting ratios all the time.
  • Participates, and conducts staff meetings. Plans/prepares and leads team related meetings.
  • Oversees maintenance of program supplies, equipment and provides recommendations. Purchasing and receiving product.
  • Maintains bulletin board postings, and ensures required information is posted and readily available to the members of the school.
  • Must have experience with CCMA policies and procedures, as the school is an applicant member whose goal is CCMA accreditation.
