Thel Schools are accredited by the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators and are listed with the Ontario Ministry of Education as  independent schools. We currently provide an authentic Montessori education for children aged 18 months to 15  year olds.  We also provide an enriched experience in French, music, art and sports, and offer March break and summer programming. We are seeking  individuals who have a Bachelor’s degree as well as well as  certification from a recognized, AMI or MACTE accredited Montessori training institute in addition to a sound understanding of the Montessori philosophy and methodology.

This positions will require good organizational and team work skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate positively and openly with parents.

ERDKINDER TEACHER for 2018/2019 school year start

The Muskoka Montessori School, a CCMA accredited school, in Huntsville, Ontario is recruiting an Erdkinder (grades 7/8)teacher. The position begins with the 2018/2019 school year. We have a well developed Erdkinder program with an emphasis on community service, outdoor education, global citizenship, and ongoing economy projects (including a garden, weekly soup production, and daily Erd Cafe). We are located in a lovely rural setting and offer an exceptionally supportive school community of staff and parents. The possibility of Erdkinder training is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications required:

- Bachelor’s degree with teaching credentials and/or Montessori training

- Elementary teaching experience

- Experience with adolescents a plus

- Generalist with all subject areas required (with the exception of French)

- Outdoor Ed experience a plus, but not required

- Great communication skills a must

- Comfort with being off site with students (field trips, excursions, volunteering, and bi-annual trip to NYC for GCAP student conference)

Position:  Junior High Teacher Grades 7 and 8

Bishop Hamilton is seeking a teacher to join its Junior High team from January 2018 until June 2018 with the possibility of an extension.  Our program is in its 25th year and offers quality academics alongside community building, social development and an extensive outdoor and experiential education program.  The Montessori vision for adolescent studies guides our program as we meet the developmental needs of the adolescents we serve. 

The ideal candidate is a trained teacher who has experience with adolescents, is knowledgeable about Montessori, and is passionate about creating an environment which meets their developmental needs.  The candidate must be able to work well as part of a team delivering a quality program. 

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement lesson plans.
  • Plan and participate in overnight trips and field trips. 
  • Manage and guide individual student behaviour.
  • Communicate with parents and members of the educational team regarding student needs and progress as needed throughout the year.
  • Maintain accurate records, including long and short term lesson plans, observations and student’s individual progress.
  • Maintain open and regular communication with parents as required.
  • Prepare required written student progress reports.
  • Conduct formal parent interviews and other parent interviews at the request of the parents as required.
  • Participate in school wide events and activities, contributing to the School Community and spirit.
  • Attend department and staff meetings.
  • Provide a caring and nurturing atmosphere in the classroom and throughout the whole school. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education • Bachelor’s degree in English, History or Geography preferred.
  • Adolescent Montessori Trained is preferred

Experience: 

The successful candidate must meet one of the above qualifications and have some experience in Physical Education.
