Career Opportunity – (Head of Children’s House – The Montessori Division)

Ashwood Glen is seeking an experienced leader with a genuine enthusiasm for and belief in Montessori
philosophy and its impact on children’s development. The Head of Children’s House should have the
ability to articulate and implement a clear vision for the school’s growth and success, inspiring others to
follow.

Job Summary:
The Head of Children’s House is responsible for providing visionary leadership, overseeing the daily
operations, and ensuring the successful implementation of the Montessori philosophy within the school
community. This role involves managing staff, fostering a positive learning environment, and
collaborating with parents and stakeholders to uphold the school’s mission and values.

Responsibilities:
Educational Leadership:
• Lead the implementation and adherence to the Montessori philosophy and principles
throughout the school.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement in teaching and learning practices.
• Stay abreast of current educational trends, research, and best practices in Montessori
education.

Administrative Management:
• Oversee day-to-day operations, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Ensure the school consistently meets CCEYA, Public Health and CCMA requirements.
• Ensure compliance with local educational regulations and accreditation standards.
• Supervise financial management and facilities operations.
• Supervise and support teaching and administrative staff.
Staff Development:
• Provide professional development opportunities for teachers and staff.
• Conduct regular evaluations and assessments to enhance the performance of the school’s
educators.
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.

Community Engagement:
• Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, fostering open communication.
• Organize and participate in community events, meetings, and conferences.
• Act as a spokesperson for the school within the local community.
Student Well-being:
• Monitor and support the holistic development of students in alignment with Montessori
principles.
• Address any concerns related to student well-being, behavior, or academic progress.
• Collaborate with teachers to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Curriculum Development:
• Oversee the development and implementation of a Montessori-aligned curriculum.
• Collaborate with teachers to ensure curriculum consistency and effectiveness.
• Evaluate and update curriculum materials regularly.

Qualifications:
• AMI or MACTE teacher certification with 5+ years teaching experience in an accredited primary
classroom
• 5+ years leadership experience in a Montessori school
• Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s Degree is preferred
• Collaborative leadership style that welcomes working closely with the Director, Senior
Management, staff and parents
• Experience in school budgeting and fundraising
• Knowledge of educational regulations, accreditation processes, and best practices in Montessori
education.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
